My daily use of pranayama and mantras keeps me present and intentional as I combat negative forces throughout the day.

The world ends tomorrow. What would you indulge in tonight?

A yoga flow and glass of Veuve Cliquot.

What was your first experience as a yoga teacher?

My first experience was teaching my co workers in our conference room. I was very nervous but I remembered that I was the expert and they were just following along to whatever I said.

What is your favorite food?

Fried Lobster Tail on a bed of Thai fried rice.

Imagine you’re on the cover of Yoga Journal. What pose would you strike?

What inspires you to teach yoga?

I want everyone in the world to feel free. Yoga makes me feel powerful and limitless. When I finish practicing asana or pranayama I feel clean and new. So when I teach I want my students to leave feeling the same way.

If you could teach yoga anywhere in the world, where would it be?

On a desert island with a warm tropical breeze.

What has been your most embarrassing yoga moment as a teacher or practitioner?

I was in a packed class and the teacher cued handstand hops, I remember hopping up the first two times just fine but by the third time I got some hangtime and freaked myself out from the shock of actually being in the air and crashed into a few yogis. Everyone was cool about it and I just laughed it off and got back into the flow.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about practicing yoga?

Yoga is for EVERYBODY! Every shape, skin color and size. If you fear starting in a group class find an online teacher and build your practice that way. Once you have a solid foundation venture off into group classes to push yourself and work on alignment.

What music are you jamming to right now?

Currently Mariah Carey’s new album and Sicki Mode by Thracian Scott.

What has been the most rewarding thing about being a teaching yoga?

Yoga isn’t in a lot of black neighborhoods so being a black male yoga teacher is important to me because I’m able to influence other people of color to try it.
