Yogi Tones Podcast Episode 69 With Andrew Gordon – Call From The Goat Yoga Guy

Andrew Gordon is back on the show! This time we talk goat yoga and the other interesting opportunities that yoga studio owners get, this episode we stay pretty focused on goats. Great episode if you want to get into goat, or any kind of animal yoga. Andrew started practicing yoga in 2002 and fell in love right away.  After working 10 years as a radio host and getting his Masters in Education, he turned to yoga looking for an answer and a purpose. Yoga helped him lose 60lbs and lower his cholesterol/blood pressure from life-threatening numbers, to optimal health. As his practice grew, a friend encouraged him to do Yoga Teacher Training. The decision to do the training changed him forever.  Listen in to what he has to share about goats and how this can fit and work within the yoga studio!

Featured Yogi – Gina Caputo

 Are you a yoga teacher?

Where do you teach?

Studio owner? Where is your studio?

Yes, the Colorado School of Yoga in Boulder, Colorado

Favorite place to practice yoga?

In my tiny home studio (our guest room!)

What do you like the most about practicing there?

I can move at the pace that serves me best and focus on the nuances that I’m most interested in on any given day. Quietude.

What was your first experience with yoga?

There was an older woman in one of my college classes and she asked the teacher if she could start every class with a little yoga. He said yes and the rest is history!

How do you practice yoga off the mat?

Besides meditation, service to others, activism, constant vigilance about my environmental footprint and a deep love for Nature.

The world ends tomorrow. What will you eat tonight?

Imagine you’re on the cover of Yoga Journal. What pose would you strike?

Bhujapidasana because it’s so ridiculous and always good for a laugh.

If you could roll out your yoga mat anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Right now I’d like to roll out my mat in front of those who are working to rebuild after Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and see if I can help them breathe a little easier if just for a moment.

What inspires you to practice yoga?

That it is an inward journey activated by our physical being. That we use the gross to access the subtle. That movement reminds me of how grateful I am to be alive. That the work I do on the mat translates into and improves my life and relationships off the mat.

What music are you jamming to right now?

I just got back from teaching in Iceland so Bjork is top of the playlist!

Where can we find more from you?

He also talks about a new idea for yoga teachers and practitioners called Destination: Light and is truly something to get excited about. Enjoy the show and your day!!

Yogi Tones Podcast Episode 26 With Sujantra McKeever – Specifics

Sujantra is the founder and owner of the Pilgrimage of the Heart Yoga Studio. He first became interested in hatha yoga as a young boy and used his practice of asanas (the yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques) as a stepping stone into the “inner aspects” of yoga: concentration, meditation and contemplation.

Sujantra opened the Pilgrimage of the Heart studio in 2006. In each of his yoga classes, Sujantra offers the complete yoga experience by teaching all eight aspects of yoga and exploring the relevance of this ancient art in our modern lives. He teaches Beginning / Gentle Yoga; Yoga for Children and Hatha Levels I and II, which includes Sun Salutations, shoulder stand and headstand. He encourages students to practice both at home and at the studio.
