Yin and Vinyasa
Where is your favorite place to practice yoga?
The beach or my apartment
What do you like the most about practicing there?
At the beach I love feeling my body connect to the earth. At my house because I’m a complete and total homebody and love the comfort of being in my own space.
How do you practice yoga off the mat?
I try my best to apply being mindful and aware in all things. When a stranger is rude to me for example, instead of simply reacting and thinking of how this person has affected me in the present I try to assess where this person’s negativity may be coming from and if there is something I can do to help them. Every week I list things that make me uncomfortable or give me anxiety and I try to force myself to overcome as many of them as I can in order to grow. Oh and being as ‘green’ as possible.
The world ends tomorrow. What would you indulge in tonight?
A plane ticket to somewhere I have yet to go that I can reach before the world ends and a bottle of a full-bodied Italian red wine.
What was your first experience with yoga?
A friend literally dragged me into a class when I had injured my right shoulder while lifting. By the end of the 60 minute class I experienced a break from the physical pain that my injury plagued me with and I was hooked after that.
What is your favorite food?
On the east coast, pizza. On the west coast, sushi!
Imagine you’re on the cover of Yoga Journal. What pose would you strike?
If you could practice yoga anywhere in the world, where would it be?
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about practicing yoga?
Try it it’s life changing. Approach it with an open mind and without expectation. Lastly, try different teachers, studios, and styles until you find your yoga.
What music are you jamming to right now?
