What do you like the most about practicing there?

privacy to work on difficult poses, to meditate

What was your first experience with yoga?

The VERY first was 1975. I was practiced at gymnastics, yoga was too slow. I was frustrated. I wanted to move. I was ignorant of what yoga was, what it could do for me.

How do you practice yoga off the mat?

I do my best to practice Yamas & Niyamas, the ethical guidelines laid out in the first two limbs of Patanjali’s eightfold path; the observances and restraints. I read Swami Rama of the Himalayas on meditation and mantra, Swami Veda Bharati, his successor on Lifestyle of a Sadhaka. I organize and attend Sutra Study. I meditate on the Full moon with all people across the globe.

The world ends tomorrow. What will you eat tonight?

Imagine you’re on the cover of Yoga Journal. What pose would you strike?

Tadasana – ‘TA DA’

If you could roll out your yoga mat anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Any park setting

What inspires you to practice yoga?

Knowing that we are all one, that each of us has Karma, and that we are all going to die. I want to be ready when it’s my turn.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying yoga?
